Some of our verified professional bartenders have whispered us some tricks of the trade and we’ve put together a list of five of our favourite summer cocktails for you to enjoy. These concoctions are sure to go down a treat with you and your friends this summer soiree season.

Strawberry Daiquiri

4 oz. light rum

1/2 c. fresh strawberries

1/2 c. frozen strawberries

Juice of 1 lime

Sliced lime, for garnish

Who doesn’t love a Strawberry Daiquiri? It is the quintessential summer cocktail and very easy to make. Simply add your ingredients into a blender and mix, you don’t want it too thick or too smooth as the perfect Daiquiri is slightly slushy but still deliciously drinkable.

Piña Colada

4 oz. spiced rum

4 oz. coconut milk

1/3 c. fresh pinapple chunks

splash pineapple juice

1 c. ice

2 maraschino cherries

If you like Piña Coladas, and getting caught in the rai- I have to stop myself before the song gets stuck in both of our heads all day. But everybody loves the perfect Piña Colada, need I say any more? Put the rum, coconut milk, pineapple chunks and juice in a blender with the ice and mix until smooth. Once poured into glasses garnish each one with a maraschino cherry, a pineapple chunk on the rim and the most quintessential ingredient: the cocktail umbrella.

Passion Rum Punch

4 oz. Dark Rum

4 oz. Passoa

Fresh Passion Fruit

4 oz. Orange & Passion Fruit Juice

1 dash Bitters

Add a little Caribbean flavour to your summer with the Passion Rum Punch. Pour the Rum, Passoa and fruit juice one by one into a mixer and then add the dash of bitters. Cut the passion fruit up and squeeze the juice from one half in and add a dash of bitters and stir gently. Pour into glasses and add the remaining slices of passion fruit as garnish. Truly one of the best summer cocktails!

Blue Margaritas

2 limes, sliced into wedges

Course salt, for rimming glasses

1/4 c. Blue Curacao

3 oz. tequila

3 oz. triple sec

1/3 c. lime juice

1 can seltzer

2 c. ice

Add a new twist to the old classic margarita formula with blue pastel tint and taste and another of our favourite Summer cocktails. Rim your glasses with the lime and salt then pour in the curacao, tequila, triple sec and lime juice then stir to mix the ingredients. Add in the seltzer to add depth to your cocktails, add ice to keep them chilled, and finish with a lime wedge to garnish your margaritas.summer cocktails

Virgin Mojito

Handful of fresh mint leaves

Juice of 2 limes

1 tsp. sugar

Crushed ice

1 can seltzer

If you or any of your friends or family are under 18, or if you have a designated driver then have no fear here’s a fantastic mocktail recipe for you. Muddle some of the mint leaves and then place in the bottom of a glass and pour in the lime juice and the seltzer. Add in the sugar and stir the mix and top with crushed ice berfore adding another mint leaf as garnish and there you have a delightfully refreshing alcohol-free alternative.
